The game world is set c.630 - control of the ancient world still rests with the old powers: the Byzantine Empire and the Sasanian Dynasty. To the south, Islam is on the rise in Arabia. To the east, the Tang dynasty has risen to power in China, and the Khaganate still controls the steppes. Between, the Sogdian city states and other smaller powers control the mountain passes through the Himalayan massif. You are a merchant facilitating trade among these great powers. Journey thousands of miles, and amass a great fortune, starting with a single step.
